Fraser Coast Property Industry Association

Over the past 25 years living and working on the Fraser Coast, I’ve watched our region evolve from a popular lifestyle destination into one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regional communities. As a finance broker, I’ve had the privilege of helping first-home buyers, families, business owners and retirees navigate important life decisions, giving me a unique perspective on both the opportunities and challenges shaping our future.

What has impressed me most is that despite the significant growth experienced, people still tell me they come to the Fraser Coast for the same reasons they always have: lifestyle, community and affordability. Having lived and worked here for more than two decades, I’ve seen our region change considerably, yet those qualities remain at the heart of what makes the Fraser Coast special.

The challenge now is ensuring our infrastructure, housing supply, workforce and services keep pace with growth. Population increases create opportunities for business investment, employment and economic development, but they also place pressure on roads, health services, housing and community facilities.

Sustainable growth must be our goal. As demand for housing continues to rise, concerns about affordability and supply are becoming more common. These challenges affect young families entering the market, workers considering relocation and long-term residents wanting to remain in the communities they love.

Another issue regularly raised is retaining younger people. Many leave to pursue education and career opportunities elsewhere. Creating pathways for them to build rewarding careers locally will be critical to our region’s long-term success.

Infrastructure planning is equally important. Roads, health services, telecommunications and community facilities must evolve alongside population growth to maintain the quality of life residents value.

From my perspective, the Fraser Coast still has a rare opportunity to shape its future before growth overtakes planning. Through collaboration between industry, government, community groups and organisations such as FCPIA, we can preserve the lifestyle that attracts people here while creating opportunities for future generations.

The decisions we make today will influence the Fraser Coast for decades to come. If we focus on sustainable growth, our region can remain prosperous, liveable and full of opportunity for generations to come.
